The Element Apartment
This is an 80㎡ apartment in Taiwan. The clients are a young couple with one child, and they have a simple request: two bedrooms and a focus on living quality.
We aimed to capture the fundamental elements of living quality: sunlight, natural materials, and the fluidity of space. Visual elements are minimized to create a neutral ambiance, drawing the eye to the depth of the space and the variation of light.
Wood and fabric are carefully selected to punctuate or blend seamlessly with the space, providing warmth and intimacy. Meanwhile, steel, ceramic, and tiles are used in areas where durability is essential.
Doors are designed not just to divide rooms but to unite the space. When opened, the full-height panels disappear, transforming the entire unit into one continuous whole. Walking through it feels like roaming in an ever-unfolding space.
Together, these elements create a calm and tranquil environment – a harbor of peace called home.
